The cool metal, the special attraction: magnets hold a special fascination for us humans. And not just in modern times, but for many thousands of years. No wonder we like to use magnets for all sorts of purposes in our homes as well. They are not only nice to look at, but also extremely practical and can make many things in our everyday lives easier. So let's take a look at what magnets in the home can be used for.

Magnetic strips mounted on the kitchen wall are especially practical. They hold kitchen utensils, such as knives. On the one hand, these strips are a real visual enhancement for the kitchen; on the other, they give you an excellent overview of your kitchen tools. For knives in particular, this kind of storage is worth its weight in gold. If knives are tossed carelessly into a drawer, they wear out much faster and are also a danger to your hands if you reach in quickly without paying attention. Magnetic strips in the kitchen, by contrast, hold knives securely in any position you like. You are not as limited as with an ordinary knife block, which can only hold a very limited number of knives.

We already know that magnets have many different uses. For example, they are well suited for key racks or coat racks. The big advantage: the individual hanging elements are not fixed in place, as with screws or hooks, but can be arranged flexibly however you like. That means on many key racks the magnetic elements are removable, so their spacing and position can be changed as you wish. This way you can use these handy helpers exactly the way you want.

Now let's turn to a classic use for magnets in the household: hinges and catches on cabinets, wall units, sideboards and so on. How convenient it is when you can simply push cabinet doors shut and they close firmly on their own. With small magnets on the closing mechanism, that is no problem. By the way, older cabinets whose doors no longer close properly (wood often warps) can also be repaired and made usable again with magnets. Just get a few small magnets and glue them in the closing area on both the door and the cabinet. Then the doors will close rock solid again!

Finally, magnets are also used in countless household appliances and consumer electronics. Examples include speakers, refrigerators, TVs, headphones and much more: practically everything that contains an electric motor or an acoustic control device.
