What is meant by the term direction of magnetization?
Magnets can be magnetized across any axis, so they can be used in different ways. The direction of magnetism determines which side of the magnet is the north pole and which is the south pole. This must be specified before manufacturing because, for example, an anisotropic block magnet can only be magnetized in one of the three possible directions.
