What are irreversible losses in magnets?
Partial demagnetization can be caused by high temperatures, external magnetic fields, shock or vibration. Under certain conditions, a magnet will regain its lost magnetism, but in extreme situations the magnet loses a percentage of its magnetism that is not recovered. These are called irreversible losses. One example: a magnet is exposed to temperatures that exceed its maximum operating temperature.
