Magnetic pole
What are called the ends of the poles?
The ends of a magnet are called poles, one of which is called the north pole and the other the south pole. If you line up two magnets so that the south pole of one magnet faces the north pole of the other, the magnets will be attracted to each other, which is called attraction. On the other hand, if you line the magnets up again so that two like poles face each other, the magnets will repel each other, which is called repulsion. Opposite poles therefore attract each other, whereas like poles repel each other. Also, if you split a magnet in half, each of those halves of the original magnet will have a north and south pole, so you end up with two magnets.
