Electroplating

What galvanic coatings are available for magnets?

Electroplating is another term for coating. Plating or coatings are applied to raw neodymium magnets to prevent corrosion and demagnetization. The most common plating is a layer of nickel, followed by a later layer of copper and another layer of nickel. These different coatings, for tailor-made applications, are offered:

  • Rubber
  • Nickel (Ni)
  • Epoxy
  • Zinc (Zn)
  • Gold (Au)
  • Can (Sn)
  • Titanium (Ti)
  • Titanium nitride (TiN)
  • Parylene C
  • Everlube
  • Chrome
  • Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, also known as Teflon Ni-Cu-Ni plus epoxy)
  • Nickel-copper-nickel, plus rubber
  • Zinc, plus rubber
  • Nickel-copper-nickel, plus parylene
  • Nickel-copper-nickel, plus PTFE
  • Tin, plus parylene
  • Zinc Chromate
  • Phosphate passivation
